Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall….

Reflections in pools of dark, still water in streams and rivers were the first documented use of “mirrors”.  The earliest man-made mirrors date back to 6000BC and consisted of polished stone.  In 1 A.D, the Romans produced glass mirrors.  The first modern “silver” glass mirror was created by a German chemist in 1835.

Today, in the 21st century, there isn’t a person who can imagine a home without a mirror.  In fact, mirrors are just about everywhere; bathrooms, hotels, stores, restaurants, purses, cars, salons, office buildings and even in elevators!  Once known as the “looking glass”, the mirror is a constant, a necessity, a tool used to see ourselves as well as an implement used for decorative and architectural purposes.

What mirror will you hang next?  Let Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery help you think outside of the “Mirrored Box”!

Did you know that mirrors are available in colors?  Aside from the traditional silver back, mirrors are also available in grey, bronze, copper, and black.  A sleek molding design, coupled with lustrous tinted mirror will add excitement to ordinary.  Introduce a beveled edge to add a dimension of opulence.

Is your flat screen T.V. hung on a wall? ... Create functional furniture by encasing it with mirror.  The mirror casing will camouflage the television while the reveal will enable you to watch it!

Be playful with mirror… add a form-fitted framed mirror to the top of a cocktail or end table.  Use it as a removable serving tray when entertaining guests!

Are you looking for the perfect Bridal Shower gift? ... Pair the future Bride’s favorite perfume bottle with a framed mirror vanity tray for her bedroom dresser!

Mirrors can be decorative or functional. They can amplify space and enhance light.  A mirror can be utilized as a piece of artwork.

Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery offers thousands of molding choices to make your custom mirror unique and special to you décor and needs.  We are only a phone call away to help answer all your questions as you reflect on the many uses and designs of mirror.

Why Should You Custom Frame Your Wedding Photo?

Most Brides and Grooms have a photographer on their “Wedding planning check list” A photographer is hired to freeze unforgettable moments in time. The poses are well thought out.  The lighting is taken into consideration.  The scenery is carefully chosen. The memories captured in photographs are the souvenirs, reminiscent of a monumental occasion.

If you are making the effort to fit a professional photographer into your wedding budget, then be sure to have your wedding photograph professionally framed as well.  Your wedding photo is a special, personal, and frame-worthy piece of art.  Proper framing will protect and preserve your special memories.

Long Island Picture Frame and their professionally trained staff can help you address custom framing details.  During the framing process, be sure to keep a few key points in mind for optimum results:

Choosing a moulding to frame your portrait is much easier when you enlist the help of a professional framer. Frame moldings are available in several sizes, colors and compositions. There are many moulding choices…wide, thin, brights, neutrals, woods, metals, etc. We will be able to properly guide and help you make an educated choice.

Mats will add a dignified border and enhance your image.  Whether you choose a single or multiple mats, be sure to choose mat colors that will compliment the hues in your photograph.  Paper mats are typically available however, if you have allocated additional funds in your framing budget, you may want to opt for a silk or linen fabric mat.  Upgrading to a fabric mat will add a note of distinction and elegance which most likely emulates the tone of your wedding day.

Glass is the protective blanket between the environment and your wedding picture.  Photographs fade over time…sometimes sooner than you would expect.  It is very important to become familiar with the glass options available to ensure that your precious images are UV (ultraviolet) light protected.  Proper UV protection will safeguard and shield your photograph from the damaging effects of natural and artificial light, which include fading, discoloration and yellowing.  In addition, there are several different “anti-glare” glass options, which can be more pleasing to the eye.

Take advantage of your well, thought out planning.  Use your professional wedding photos as gifts for the years following your wedding.  Frame Mom and Dad’s picture from your wedding for their anniversary gift; Frame your sister’s picture as she hugged you on your wedding day for her birthday gift; Frame your grandparent’s picture as they danced at your wedding for their holiday gift! The possibilities are endless!

You are starting a new beginning and making new memories. Let us help you preserve and protect those precious wedding memories that have been captured.  We will help you accomplish the framing task with ease and allow you to enjoy your treasured wedding portraits for years on end.
