Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall….

Reflections in pools of dark, still water in streams and rivers were the first documented use of “mirrors”.  The earliest man-made mirrors date back to 6000BC and consisted of polished stone.  In 1 A.D, the Romans produced glass mirrors.  The first modern “silver” glass mirror was created by a German chemist in 1835.

Today, in the 21st century, there isn’t a person who can imagine a home without a mirror.  In fact, mirrors are just about everywhere; bathrooms, hotels, stores, restaurants, purses, cars, salons, office buildings and even in elevators!  Once known as the “looking glass”, the mirror is a constant, a necessity, a tool used to see ourselves as well as an implement used for decorative and architectural purposes.

What mirror will you hang next?  Let Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery help you think outside of the “Mirrored Box”!

Did you know that mirrors are available in colors?  Aside from the traditional silver back, mirrors are also available in grey, bronze, copper, and black.  A sleek molding design, coupled with lustrous tinted mirror will add excitement to ordinary.  Introduce a beveled edge to add a dimension of opulence.

Is your flat screen T.V. hung on a wall? ... Create functional furniture by encasing it with mirror.  The mirror casing will camouflage the television while the reveal will enable you to watch it!

Be playful with mirror… add a form-fitted framed mirror to the top of a cocktail or end table.  Use it as a removable serving tray when entertaining guests!

Are you looking for the perfect Bridal Shower gift? ... Pair the future Bride’s favorite perfume bottle with a framed mirror vanity tray for her bedroom dresser!

Mirrors can be decorative or functional. They can amplify space and enhance light.  A mirror can be utilized as a piece of artwork.

Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery offers thousands of molding choices to make your custom mirror unique and special to you décor and needs.  We are only a phone call away to help answer all your questions as you reflect on the many uses and designs of mirror.
